MP: Supposedly.. Uncas was. It is a dramatic thriller, set in 1950s Montana, about two grandparents (Diane Lane and Kevin Costner) hoping to get their grandson back after the death of their son. It was really hard to get that damn ball. Has Eric ever heard of "running the gauntlet"? I guess it turned out alright. E: Very, very hot and sticky and it rained a lot. Did you feel close? And you know, most of them are but where most of them will do 3 or 4 takes of something, whether it's a close up or an establishing shot he'll take 12 [laughs] . or 13. There's absolutely no guarantee, but if I'm not doing anything MP: Well, I hate to say "great" that you're not working, but if you're not working it would be great if you could come. But people still, especially kids who have this .. it changes the way they see things. People are treating kids like animals. It could have been shot better. ES: He's more meticulous, he's a perfectionist to the power of 10. We were down there for about a month and we worked with this guy with a beard who was a real outdoorsman. But, nobody went to work. He has said elsewhere that he credits his girlfriend Gail and his agent Deidre Sam with helping him in his recovery. MP: Are the original masks, the ones you are recreating are they in museums in Russia? Things usually turn out if you do it that way. ES: Yeah, as opposed to a few years ago, it's reasonably quiet, yeah. It is hard to do this if someone is not interested in itmind, body and soul. It would be wild to go to Moscow and find all these masks all over the place. I'll see you at the movies.". I: Do you think it's promoting your career in the way you would like it to?
